How To Catch A Regular Axolotl
The Axolotl is a legendary fish, making it one of the rarer ones. Luckily, once you know what to do, catching one is pretty easy. You can find these in Roslit Bay, but more specifically, in freshwater. This means you shouldn’t be fishing by the docks where the ocean is. You’ll want to head into the island a little more. I suggest fishing in the Roslit Pond, where the Lazy Worker NPC is.
These creatures can only be caught at night, so if it’s day and you don’t want to wait, you can use the Sundial Totem to change it. The good news is, compared to many of the other fish available, you can catch an Axolotl in any season, so all you have to worry about is the time of day.
How To Catch A Midnight Axolotl
It’s worth mentioning a variant of the Axolotl, called the Midnight Axolotl. This is also of legendary rarity, but a lot harder to catch due to its location. You can find one in Desolate Deep, and to get here you need to purchase diving gear and swim underwater to get inside.
Once you get there, you can try your luck in catching one! The Midnight Axolotl appears in either spring or autumn and loves insects as bait.
