Video game auter Hideo Kojima is known for his long, often confusing stories, and 2018’s Death Stranding is one of his most confusing by far. However, for the upcoming sequel—Death Stranding 2: On the Beach—fans and newcomers alike will be able to quickly recap the original’s hard sci-fi narrative.

Death Stranding 2 graciously includes a recap

Revealed by Kojima on social media, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will always have the option to recap the original game’s story on the title screen. While the game’s story will likely go over a lot of events from the first title, it’s good to get a full refresher.

On the, still unfinished, main menu of the upcoming sequel, there is a “Recap of Death Stranding” option that will allow players to quickly go through the events of the first game. In the current version of the game, players can still access the recap even when they have a save file for the sequel in use. However, this may change.

“This screen is still very much temporary,” Kojima explained on Twitter.

While Dearth Stranding does explain its own story very well, it is also a lot to take in. Furthermore, there will be players of the sequel that have not played the original game. With the sequel’s release date sneaking closer every day, it’s great news that the title will include a full recap.

Not long to wait now

While Dearth Stranding 2 doesn’t have a specific release day, the game is scheduled to launch sometime in 2025. At the time of writing, the game is scheduled to release exclusively on PlayStation 5 but, if the previous game’s release is any indication, a PC release will also occur sometime afterwards.
